OnePlus officially starts rolling out Android Oreo to the OnePlus 5T

OnePlus 5T

After about a month of wait, OnePlus 5T users finally have something to cheer for. After pushing out the Android Oreo update to the OnePlus 5 earlier this month, the company has started pushing out OxygenOS 5.0.2 to 5T users starting today. The update brings in a few changes apart from updating the Android version to 8.0 Oreo.

OnePlus does take security very importantly and a crucial security fix is also included in the update. OxygenOs 5.0.2 brings the fix to the popular Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities, as a part of January 2018 security patch.

Speaking about changes, have a look at the complete changelog below:

System

  • Upgraded Android version to Oreo (8.0)
  • Applied CPU security patch: CVE-2017-13218
  • General bug fixes and improvements

Applications

  • Updated Launcher to v2.2
  • Updated Gallery to v2.0
  • Updated Weather to v1.9
  • Updated File Manager to v1.7.6

As always, the update is incremental and will only reach a very few users today. It may take upto a week or maybe more for your 5T to receive the Oreo update. To manually check for updates, go to Settings->System Updates->Check for Updates.

Apart from the stable OxygenOS 5.0.2, the company has also pushed out Open Beta 3 for the 5T. The beta reportedly contains iPhone X like Navigation gestures, like holding an app card to go into the multi-tasking tray. Other changes like reversing the call pick-up gesture direction have been added.
